It’s not what a woman wears, what she looks like, what part of town she lives in, and what color she is, what she does for a living, and whether she likes booze. Rape begins in the minds of men even if she is wearing a turtleneck sweater, is carrying a rag doll, is living at the trailer park at the edge of town, or is sharing a fox hole with other grunts in Afghanistan.
It’s past time to educate our boys and men about rape. Rape is not manhood. It is not a rite of passage. Women don’t “ask” for it. It is immoral to rape women and girls and other men. It is against the law. Rape is not a laughing matter. Rape is a crime against humanity in international courts.
Let’s not stop at Steubenville, Ohio. Let’s stop rape. Everywhere.
