The Real Results from the Iran Election: Ahmadinejad Came in Third

No surprise to me; I just knew that Ahmadinejad didn’t win.

From the Daily Telegraph in Britain:

The statistics, circulated on Iranian blogs and websites, claimed Mr Mousavi had won 19.1 million votes while Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had won only 5.7 million.

The two other candidates, reformist Mehdi Karoubi and hardliner Mohsen Rezai, won 13.4 million and 3.7 million respectively. The authenticity of the leaked figures could not be confirmed.

Yeah, but I saw this earlier at one of the mainstream U.S. blogs, perhaps HuffPo, as well. It’s not just the Telegraph that is saying this. I would say that it is a pretty good educated guess at what the actual numbers were.

I keep thinking that the Iranians are doing what we would have done if Rove and his techie bunch had messed up the numbers as they did in 2004. Or would we have?

These people are putting their bodies on the line for their democracy. And that love of country is to be honored and respected as well.

Pray for Iran, not the mullahs, to win out.
