It was never in any real doubt, with Republicans trying to nitpick her record and trying to say that she’s a reverse racist, even to get a rise out of her. Who did they think she was, Charo?

All that nitpicking, of course, is a lot of white male bias and fear- mongering about the colored folks taking over the country, and whites being driven out of their “rightful” places. It’s not unlike some of the white fear and hysteria whipped up by the right wing punditocracy surrounding the Obama-Gates-Crowley-Cambridge Police mess.

No doubt, even more giant steps are going to be taken in months to come. I feel as if these seven-and-a-half months of the Obama Administration have been more like five years, but accomplishments like this are worth throwing a fist in the air.
