The Nike Ad: Tiger Woods and His Father Earl’s Voice
I’m working on a lot of things right now, which is why I haven’t been posting, but this was hard not to comment about. We all know how Tiger misses his father, and that they were very close. I find it very interesting that Nike, a corporate entity, would go this far to show its approval of one of its prime endorsers, even as he has been brought low from scandal. (I also find it interesting that Tiger, along with his mother, would approve of using his father’s voice in a commercial; but his father did help make who Tiger became, both as a golfer and as an individual, for good or for bad.) The branding of Tiger with Nike has been very, very good and lucrative for them both, equal or beyond that of Nike’s other, now former endorser, Michael “Air” Jordan. Let’s see how this relationship will go forth beyond the Masters, and towards other events.
I wish Tiger well during the Masters, whether he wins or not.
