That Photo from Facebook: A Child Grasps the Full Meaning of Xmas

This was from George (“oh, my!”) Takei’s feed this morning.

I don’t think that I need to elaborate.  As a Buddhist, I see things differently, so best wishes for the winter holidays, folks.  In classical, medieval  Japan, the people believed that the gods were absent during these times, that they could not be reached or called upon during this season.  I don’t believe that.  I believe that they—the Buddhist gods—are always present, both within and without.  Always, light emerges from darkness at any time, at any moment.  Even when the sun does not appear to shine.
