The Late Eartha Kitt Returns as a Comic Book She-ro

Living on in the 21st century: Eartha Kitt, in her catsuit which mimics one of her most famous roles, is now a comic book she-roe. It’s all in fun.  Meeooowwwww… (Courtesy: Shadow and Act)

I thought this was glorious.  The girl won’t stop, not even from the grave. Far better than playing Yzma from The Emperor’s New School. From Shadow and Act:

Spinning off from the popular “The Misadventures of Adam West” & “The Secret Lives of Julie Newmarcomic book series comes the newest in the series of adventures featuring iconic Eartha Kitt.

Working with her estate, “Eartha Kitt: Femme Fatale“ which will be out this week.  The quarterly series is an all ages adventure featuring the legend.  From the same universe as the Adam West, Julie Newmar and Dirk Benedict series, Eartha Kitt is on holiday, searching for the purrfect wave. When suddenly??? Well we won’t spoil the surprise. But in the tradition of DC Nation and all good things for all ages comes “Eartha Meets The Gorgon,” the first in a series of adventures. “Eartha Meets The Gorgon” is the long anticipated return to good clean fun.

Written by New York Times bestselling author Marc Shapiro, who also penned the Julie Newmar series “Eartha Kitt: Femme Fatale“ will be out this week.   “This series has been have been so much fun to do,” said Shapiro. “And it is an homage to the kinds of stories that first appeared in the mid-60’s”.

“We have a couple more surprises with the ICONS brand that we will be announcing soon.  One is another ongoing series featuring another pop culture hero who is writing the book himself.  I promise you will see some more team-ups with them too in the future”.

The print version is available at only Comic Book Flea Market.  To order the book please click here:

The artists Ogaz and Felipe Montecinos did the cover and the art.

That Bad Eartha

Yeah, she was that bad Eartha. And there’s been no one like her to take her place (Courtesy: Wikipedia)

“Good, clean fun,” huh?  Weeeelllll, Eartha was definitely into having fun, or hinting broadly (“Santa Baby”) that she was having more fun than other people.  Remember, Orson Welles once called her, “the most exciting woman in the world.”   And that was years before they consummated their affair.  When it got rough, she got political, too.  And sometimes, she definitely was cruel.  But this is for 21st century kids.  Let them grow up and find out more about Ms. Kitt, but she’s back.  Meowwww.

I love the idea that all of these Sixties people, Adam West, Eartha Kitt and Julie Newmar, are getting a second or third wind off of this series.  I mean, Adam West is still cracking us up as the voice of the mayor of Quahog on Family Guy.  Eartha also has a stupendous website, and it is here.

If you’d like to find out more about  Bluewater Comics, and order up  this and the rest of the series, the link is here.

Also, if you are more inclined towards the digital rather than the analog world:

It will also be available digitally at locations such as these:  Wowio, ComiXology, DriveThru Comics, Google Play, My Digital Comics, Overdrive, Iverse, iTunes, Kindle, Wowio, Nook, Kobo and wherever eBooks are sold.
