First…You Make a Roux
I really liked this photo of a French Quarter store window that turned up on Google Images, when I was planning to change the header. It’s from a blog called Solo Traveler run by Janice Waugh and Tracey Nesbitt, and the photo won Picture of the Week on April 19, 2012 for a tourist photographer named Celeste. Celeste is a member of the Solo Travel Society Facebook Group, and this is a favorite photo from her journey to the Crescent City that she submitted to the blog.
I don’t know Celeste, and this is the first time that I have ever heard of the Solo Travel Society Facebook Group. I don’t even know the name of the store or who owns it. But I thought that this was a great picture and that the store display was a great idea. In some ways, it does take a roux of beautiful things to make up a store as well as a fantastic-tasting base to make a great pot of gumbo.
